Alot of recipes for a basic butter and powdered sugar frosting recipe are way way too sweet....a pound of powdered sugar to 1 stick of butter, come on! This recipe is perfectly sweet....you can taste the yummy butter and vanilla flavors instead of just powdered sugar. This recipe makes enough to frost 12 cupcakes, a 8 to 9 inch single cake layer, or it's good on sugar cookies.
Here's the recipe....
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled (use this if you want to make chocolate frosting)
Directions: In a medium mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed cream butter and chocolate (if using) until smooth. On low speed gradually add powdered sugar alternating with milk. Add vanilla and beat on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
